Un petit coin de paradis 6 persons / Draguignan

This is a fantastic family house, set in 1 hectare of landscaped grounds within a 5 minute drive from the capital of Var, Draguignan. As you can imagine, there’s lots of pre-season preparation needed for this property – particularly with the garden – but the end results really make it all worthwhile and the house often gets a 10/10 feedback score with many returning tenants.

This detached Provençal 140 m2 country house has an open plan living space, which is suitable for up to 6 persons and 1 baby. At ground level there is a porch, separate WC/shower room, open plan kitchen and a spacious and bright living room, which is tastefully decorated. There is a TV (Sky TV), surround sound system and WiFi internet (all through the house and in the pool house) and Apple TV.

From the living room there are French doors opening onto a large covered terrace with dining table and from the kitchen another terrace with comfortable chairs. The doors let light into the house making the indoor environment light and bright.

In the living room you find a cozy sitting area with fire place and a separate dining area with a large dining table, open plan modern fully fitted kitchen with a 5-ring Smeg gas cooker and 2 electric ovens, American Siemens "Show-case" fridge/freezer, Nespresso and filter coffee machine, electric kettle and a microwave oven. A center island with breakfast bar and Bombo bar stools makes a nice place to have a drink and chat to the cook.

From the living room a staircase leads up to the 1st floor with 2 spacious bedrooms. All the bedrooms were refurbished in 2016 with characterful modern interior and comfortable beds:

​The master bedroom ​has a double bed (155 x 200 cm), a built-in wardrobe and en-suite private shower room with walk-in shower, toilet and basin. From this bedroom you have patio doors ​giving access to a balcony, which offers great views over the garden, pool and beyond.

The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds (90 x 200 cm, which can be made into a double bed), a ​build-in wardrobe and en-suite shower room ​with basin. ​The two bedrooms are equipped with mosquito nets on widows and French doors to the balcony.

The 3rd bedroom at garden level has 2 single beds (80 x 200 cm, which can be made into a double bed), a wash basin and patio doors leading out to a terrace overlooking ​a small lawned garden. This bedroom has access to ​a newly ​modernised shower room and toilet on the ground floor. 

If you close the shutters during the warmest hours, you will have a cool interior to retreat to, when you want a break from the sun and heat outside. All bedrooms have a fan.

The house is set in 1 ha of beautiful ​gardens with many exotic plants and trees, 2.5 kms from the town of Draguignan.

The garden is exceptionally well maintained and the pool area has been transformed into a tropical haven with infinity free-form swimming pool with alarm for the safety of small children, many palm trees and other exotic plants, wooden decking, hammock and sun loungers – plenty of sitting areas both in sun and shade, which comes mainly from the 3 large mulberry trees (broad leaved), the pergola area  and the covered pool house.

The large pool house has a fully fitted summer kitchen with a fridge/freezer, gas cooker/oven and dishwasher. There is a built-in BBQ with a plancha next to a large dining table with seating for 8 ​persons. There is also a wifi connection and a solar-heated shower.

The house is ideally situated for the resorts of the Côte d' Azur with visits to Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and St. Tropez within driving distance. Further inland you will find a wide range of activities such as cycling / mountain biking, swimming, horseback riding, tennis and hiking through the nearby vineyards. You can also play golf on one of the 3 golf courses nearby. About 1 hour's drive away is the natural beauty of the Gorges du Verdon, ideal for mountain climbing/hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, pedalo's, bathing, etc. 

We also recommend the waterfall of Sillans la Cascade, where you can enjoy hiking and swimming.

Bicycles can be rented in Draguignan and Vidauban, where you can choose between bicycles for all ages and purposes. ​The shop in Vidauban even delivers and collects for a small fee - please ask for details.

Restaurants, food & wine

There are many Provençal bistros and restaurants in the area. Draguignan is the capital of the Var and has plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés and a Saturday market with many local products. There are many wine chateaux with wine tasting available in the area.

The rental price includes gas, water and electricity.

Rental prices:
1 - 15 June: 1450 Euro
15 June - 24 August: 1995 Euro
24 August - 28 September: 1450 Euro

is Saturday between 16.00 and 19.00. If you are delayed please let us know. Departure is Saturday before 10.00. If you leave very early (before 08.00), please contact us before to arrange for key hand-over.

Obligatory end cleaning is paid on arrival and amounts to €140.

Optional bed linen is charged at €12.50 per person and bath towels (not to be used by the pool) at €10.00 per person paid on arrival.

Payment conditions: There will be made a rental agreement in the booking process, where the tenant will pay 25% of the total rental price as a deposit within a week. 8 weeks before arrival the remaining 75% of the rent plus the safety deposit (€500) is paid. The safety deposit will be paid back to the tenant after successful end inspection of the property, at the latest 7 days after departure by bank transfer.

We have spent the most wonderful time at un petit coin – we will certainly miss this house.

The wonderful interior, the beautiful garden and pool and the curious gekkos visiting every evening.

Best of all, our girls have had the time of their lives this week.

Spending 2 weeks in this small paradise was exactly what we needed. Living outside, sun silence, in the beautiful garden, almost 24/7. . . gave us the rest we needed:)

We loved cooking in the well equipped kitchen(s) with local ingredients and herbs from the garden. Heading home filled with new energy and lovely memories.

The house is refurbished with the distinct charm of Provence, but with all modern facilities – especially the drinkable water with ice cubes were immensely appreciated. The large outdoor property with its huge variety of trees and plants and the idyllic pool area with comfortable sun beds really give you the feeling of a paradise. Trips to lovely nearby villages and the great Gorges du Verdon made our week here a treasured memory.
