Interior

The owner has just refurbished this 130 m2 villa and much of the furniture is brand new or newly renovated in a rustic industrial style fitting the rest of the house.

It offers 3 double bedrooms, 2 shower/ bathrooms, an open-plan airy dining-living area with double-height ceilings (4.5 m), air-conditioning and a fully fitted kitchen.

At the front of the house there is a covered two-part balcony, one in connection with the living area, where you have sliding windows – a very flexible space for windy days and when the windows are open they provide ventilation for the house. At the other end in direct connection with the dining area there is a dining table and a large gas plancha bbq, where you can prepare meals for the family to eat outside or inside.

Both parts of the balcony offer uninterrupted panoramic views over the valley below and the surrounding villages.

The front door takes you into a hallway from where you access the fully fitted kitchen comprising a 4-ring hob (2 gas rings and two halogen rings), an electric oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge, freezer (in the adjoining utility room), nespresso, cafetière and filter coffee machines, toaster, electric kettle and much more making it very accommodating for preparing meals for family and friends.

Through double glass doors you have access to the double-height ceiling living area with a new leather sofa, armchairs, large 50” flat-screen TV with French/English TV channels and Netflix. There is wireless free WIFI throughout the main accommodation and the terrace.

The living area is in direct connection with the dining area with a 6-person newly renovated dining table. From this end you have direct access to the covered balcony and the pool area. The pool area is fenced from the parking area accessed via a travertine staircase and the pool also has an alarm for further safety for small children.

Upstairs you have two of the three bedrooms, which have both been newly refurbished with new beds and mattresses. Each has a double bed (160*200 cm) and fitted wardrobes. Between the two bedrooms you find a likewise newly refurbished shower room with walk-in shower, glass screen, basin with cupboard and a further fitted cupboard.

On the landing is a separate toilet. For the living area you have the option of using the air-conditioning to keep comfortable during the hot months.

At the garden level you have separate access to the third bedroom also with a new double bed/mattress (160*200 cm) with an en-suite bath/shower room with toilet, basin and fitted wardrobes. This room has it’s own covered terrace and could be convenient for teenage children or grandparents wanting their own space from time to time.

All bedroom windows are fitted with sliding mosquito screens, so you can open the windows for ventilation at night, when the air is cooler.

The house also offers a washing machine (in the utility room next to the kitchen), hair dryer and iron/ironing board for your convenience.

Restaurants, food & wine

Taradeau is a wine making village nestling in the heart of the Florieye valley, a trout fishing river which flows between the Gaye Pan gorges before joining the River Argens downstream.

This was was a prosperous Gallo-Roman town on the main Roman road, however the village was ravaged by invasions on two occasions, in the IXth and XIVth century. These troubled times have left the vestiges of the Fort oppidum, the St Martin Roman chapel and the Taradel Tower which are all located on the hill overlooking the village.

From the village view points you can look over the well respected local vineyards or take a walk and visit the Fort oppidum and you'll mix a good walk with archaeological discovery. This ancient fortified village was built by the Romans as accommodation for the Ligurian workers from the Roman farms on the the Arcs and Taradeau plains. The ramparts and houses can still be seen, and the commune has installed an information point. Further information from the tourist office, or local residents.

In Lorgues, about 10 minutes drive from the house you find Lorgues Tennis club and just outside Lorgues, on the road to Vidauban/Les Arcs, you find a pony club, where children can have riding lessons.

The area is wonderful for biking, both mountain biking and street biking. There are also a possibility of renting bicycles - please ask for details. Lorgues also has good play grounds and an adventure (climbing) park and pony club close by.

The beaches of the Mediterranean coast and the Gorges du Verdon are all within 45 minutes drive. In Lorgues and in the nearby medieval villages, you can visit plenty of historic sites as well as enjoying the various local markets (on Saturday in Taradeau, Tuesday in Lorgues (the largest in the area) and Wednesday and Sunday in Vidauban) and festivals organised under the plane trees so typical of the region. For sports lovers: golf, cycling or mountain-biking, walking, bathing, fishing, canoeing etc. can be found in the surrounding area - please ask for updates at the local tourist information in Lorgues.

Shopping, restaurants etc.

Taradeau is a charming village with lots of history and shops/wine corporative /bakery etc for your convenience just down the road in walking distance. A short drive away Hyper-U is a large complex with supermarket and shops for bigger shopping trips.

You find numerous bistros and restaurants in Lorgues and surrounding areas for all tastes and budgets from the famous restaurant 'Chez Bruno' just outside Lorgues known for its truffle-based specialities, the good quality 'La table du Pôl' with traditional French cuisine to the friendly and atmospheric Italian restaurant 'Main a la pate' just up from the centre of Lorgues (pizza and pasta dishes). Here you can eat outside in the warm evenings, children are welcome.

There are plenty of local vineyards and chateaux nearby, where the staff is happy to show you around and let you taste their wines. Vidauban has also some local restaurants and shops worth a visit.

Remarks:

We are Malene and Phil and we are looking forward to service this house for it's first season with us. This house is late on the market due to the refurbishment and has just come into our portfolio. The owner has agreed to put the house on the market this coming season for prices much lower than the usual level for this standard of house. So you have a chance to get this property at a much reduced rate.
Please feel free to contact us, if you have any questions about the house or the area. We live in Lorgues and are there to help you during your stay. We speak English, Danish (Malene) and French (mostly Malene).
